Welcome!

Welcome to our Adelphi Master's Seminar Teaching for Social Justice Blog!  This semester, we will explore social justice theory as it relates to educational theory and practice.  We will critically examine perspectives in educational policy and practice by researching the work of theorists, educators, and policy makers. We will analyze discrepancies, identify similarities, and raise important questions that still beg to be explored.  Topics of discussion in this blog may focus on (but are not limited to) issues of race, gender, gender expression, age, ethnicity, culture, socioeconomic circumstance, appearance, ability, national origin, language, spiritual belief, and/or sexual orientation.  We will examine the experiences of adolescents, teachers, administrators, and staff and discuss the relationship between home, school, and community life.  Subjectivity in education will be examined with particular reference to the structural inequalities that are present in our school systems.  Happy Blogging! :)  (NS)
